I really love the f430! I think it is one of the best looking Ferraris ever made cool.gif
it's not good as the enzo or as the 250 le mans, but it looks great
that's a pity I haven't got 150.000 euros in my wallet... sad.gif

Variety makes the world go round. For me, the 430 is a very clumsy looking car.
The front is hideous, the rear is just an Enzo copycat. By the way, I think the Enzo is absolutely the ugliest Ferrari ever.
Please do not ever mention either in the same sentence as any 250, Lusso, SWB. GTO, or whatever.
As a Ferrari TIFOSO,ergo the username, I am appalled at the contrived, baroque, and plain ugly nature of all Ferraris that came after the 456. Call me old fashioned, stick in the mud, whatever, but none of the current crop is, from a design perspective, worth a damn!!
Performance, engineering - ah, that's another matter entirely.
FORZA FERRARI!!
Let's hope that the changing of the guard at Pininfarina will once again allow the designers to be at their creative best, ie, Maserati Birdcage, and that Monte takes a lesson from the old man, of whom it has been said, would deliver a chassis to Pinin Farina, Bertone, Ghia, etc., and simply say, "Put some clothes on it" and go away to let the boys do their magic.

I agree...

I mean, I wouldn't call any of the current Ferraris a "bad looking car", but I'm a bit perplexed about the design of the latest models...

Most of the time they look a bit ostentatious in details and proportions, expecially after the new trend introduced by the 360 Modena...

Anyway, it's not all Pininfarina's fault... If you look at the first rough sketches of the 612, for example, you see a much more proportioned and discreet shape penned by the designers (and, incidentally, the car looked much more evolutionary when compared to the 456 than the final model)...

Too bad the car got stretched to get an elongated wheelbase in order to increase the space available for the rear seats, the front wheelarches were moved forward to achieve a better balance of the masses and the final result looked utterly different...

You can think whatever you want about the recent ferrari s, but please don't tell to other people what they must do. I compared the f430 and the enzo to the 250 LM, GTO and SWB because I think they are (all of them) the BEST FERRARI EVER. they are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT cars, but I like them all.

Indeed!

I think the Enzo is plain ugly (and don't make me talk about the FXX...) and the F430 is just junior Enzo. The front of the 612 isn't one of the best either, but the rest of the car is fine.

I wonder were all the grace the Ferraris had (250 California Spyder, 250 GT Lusso, 250 GT SWB, 365 GTB/4 Daytona, and more) has gone...

I apologize if I offended anyone's sensitivities. I certainly am not trying to tell anyone what to like - I am simply expressing my opinion, and trying, at least for fun, to get you to agree with me.
I have owned a Dino, and still own a 355 berlinetta, and have drooled over all the P3/4's, Testa Tossas, 250's including the LM, and especially the 275GTB and Daytona.
Yes, all these cars are different, and they can be admired for their uniqueness. There is no question that from an engineering and technological perspective, the 430 and Enzo and even the 612 are unequaled. My goodness, a 430 will outrun an F40!!
But beautiful? I really don't think so, and I stand by my statement that from a design standpoint, they do a great disservice to the great styling achievements exemplified by the cars from the 50s,60's and 70's.
Just look at a Boxer - notice how its totally - beautiufully - stylistically integrated. One look tells you its "right".
The 430,on the other hand, has the sharknosen front, the rear quarter emulates the LM, and the back is all Enzo. What the hell is going on here?
The answer - BAD DESIGN!!!

I also agree that the F430 looks over-designed. It seems as if Ferrari were pushed by Lamborghini to come up with an extreme design in order to fight the Gallardo, and as a result they came up with a clumsy mess. It tries too hard, and as 355bnut mentions tries to emulate so many past Ferraris it just gets confusing. From that perspective, the 360 was a much more beautiful shape.

But one thing is for sure, the quality finish of Ferrari is superb. Inside and out, they are very difficult to better. In comparison, only the Aston Martin Vanquish gives an equal impression (I just love the frosted glass ashtray). The interior of Lamborghini is shoddy, and looks a curious mish-mash of Audi (which have never produced great interiors) and the awful application of suede never looked worse this side of an early '90s Maserati.

I appreciate the 360 and now the f430 performance-wise, but I'm still quite skeptical about their looks.
The front shape for instance, it kind of reminds me of the shape of the
spout of the platypus. Take a look at the picture in the link below, and see for yourself:
http://www.arcadiaclub.com/img/animali/orn...ista_foglie.JPG

But, instead of the 456, I would say the 550 is the limit between the nice looking Ferraris and the "well, perhaps if I take some time and think about it, it will look good, eventually".
360 and subsequent models are the kind of cars I think, well, they are good or very good sportscar, but, they look... purposeful? I mean, perhaps they look like that because its functional to the magic of their aerodynamics? And in most cases that's partly the reason for their wierdness
Perhaps its a whole new design language I'm not bright enough to get at first sight?
They have some noble appeal, not for every taste, but for the selected few that can appreciate good design. But, still, I'm not convinced. Perhaps they're just plain ugly. And the 612 looks awful in comparison to the 456, and also have some of the uglyest rims I've ever seen as first equipment on a sportscar.
The 599GTB is no exception, and quite frankly, I really would like to see a new Ferrari that I like from the very first moment.
